Properly functioning brake systems are crucial to safe vehicle operation
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is holding its annual Brake Safety Week September 11-17. During this event, roadside inspection personnel will focus their attention on brakes. The CVSA utilizes the information collected in this study to verify or refute industry trends regarding brake incidents on public roadways.
Ensure Your Drivers and Your Vehicles are Ready:
- Turn Signals
- Fuel System including Tanks and Tank Straps
- Trailer Bodies
- Coupling Devices
- Steering Mechanisms
- Brake Lamps
- Safe and Secure Loading
- Tail Lamps
- Brake System
- Exhaust System
- Head Lamps
- Windshields and Wipers
- Lamps and/or Flags on Projecting loads
- Wheels and Rims
Look around, make sure all vehicles are getting inspected and getting the necessary repairs completed. Remind your drivers to check their credentials and the truck paperwork. As always, any violations can impact CSA scores, it is important to avoid those negative points.
