Operation Safe Driver

Operation Safe Driver

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), in partnership with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA), has scheduled its annual ‘Operation Safe Driver Week’ for October 19-25, 2014. Safe
Driver week activities are held in Canada, Mexico and the United States and supported by enforcement and
industry professionals across North America.

Stepped up law enforcement activities will include but is not limited to the following areas:

  • Commercial vehicle enforcement
  • Seat belt enforcement
  • Roadside Inspections
  • Non-commercial vehicle traffic law enforcement
  • Driver fatigue
  • Distracted driving

The goal is not only aggressive enforcement but the agencies also hope to heighten awareness and educate
drivers all across North America. Law enforcement and transportation safety officials will offer educational
awareness and safety education programs to motor carriers and to the motoring public. The program will
include educating motorists on the risks of aggressive driving, distracted driving and general seatbelt safety
just to name a few.

Let’s join together this week to go the extra mile to:

  • Ensure our vehicles are safe and road ready
  • Educate ourselves and others about aggressive driving
  • Park our cell phones and don’t drive distracted
  • Manage our speed and follow all traffic laws
  • Ensure total DOT regulatory compliance
  • Not drive while fatigued
  • DRIVE RESPONSIBLY
  • SHARE THE ROAD RESEPCTFULLY

Remember, driving is a full-time job. Stay focused, keep your hands on the
wheel, keep your eyes on the road and keep your mind in the game!
