PLH Group Responds to Hurricane Laura

Hurricane Laura ripped through Louisiana and Texas last month, causing millions of dollars in damage and leaving tens of thousands without power. Despite the staggering damage, electrical crews are working valiantly around the clock to restore power across affected areas. Over 20,000 linemen are deployed to the area, including crews from PLH Group companies Power Line Services, TESSCO Energy Services, Sun Electric, and Auger Services.
Last week, Power Line Services donated a tractor-trailer full of food and water to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Lafayette, LA. The pallets of food and water will go towards helping residents of the area in need. Employees from each of the PLH Group companies currently working in the area were on site to assist this generous donation.
PLH Group is incredibly proud of the herculean efforts of our crews to not only restore power to residents of Louisiana but also to lift their spirits and give back to the community.
We are grateful for the hard work the employees of Power Line Services, TESSCO Energy Services, Sun Electric, and Auger Services have done during this disaster.
Nick Hebert, Vice President of Power Line Services, and his team cooked all night to provide lunch for approximately 200 crew members from PLS and local crews as just a small token of gratitude for the hard work done by the men and women working to restore power.
During the entire summer, safety professionals throughout all PLH Group business units are providing employees with hydrating drinks and fruit, as well as engaging in conversations with crews to ensure employees understand the importance of properly hydrating, taking frequent breaks, and finding shade to prevent heat-related illnesses like heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. The conversations also cover the devasting effects of energy drinks on the body, as well as how to respond if someone on the crew displays signs of heat stress.
“Long story short, drink plenty of fluids,” said Kevin. “If you’re not drinking fluids and you don’t have a good diet, it’s going to catch you. I don’t care what your age is. It doesn’t matter who you are.”
