PLH Group Gears up for National Falls Prevention Safety Stand Down
Date: May 1, 2019

PLH Group’s electric power, oil and gas services companies are gearing up for the sixth annual National Safety Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction.
The event takes place May 6-10, 2019 and is partnered by OSHA, NIOSH and NORA in an effort to raise stop-falls awareness with three steps: PLAN. PROVIDE. TRAIN.*
Although fatalities from falls decreased slightly from 2015 to 2016, they were still at an overall high in 2017 according to the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
PLH Group electric power services and oil pipeline construction companies are participating in the Stand Down to Prevent Falls in a variety of events taking place May 6-10, 2019 by:
- Preventing falls toolbox talks
- Conducting safety equipment inspections
- Developing rescue plans
- Discussing job specific hazards
OSHA reports falls are the leading cause of private sector worker deaths.
This is an opportunity for PLH Group infrastructure construction solutions to educate employees through the companywide PREVENT system, a safety program that consistently keeps workers safe and numbers low. Each of the 14 companies has already begun prepping for their singular stand down events with guidance from the partners’ suggestions and will receive a certificate of participation upon conclusion.
PLH safety directors, managers and crews will be taking advantage of the readily accessible resources and training materials for their own Safety Stand Down, including toolbox talks, videos, materials in Spanish, hardhat stickers, posters, quick cards and social media ideas.
