OSHA Case Study Highlights PLH Group
Date: September 27, 2019

A newly released OSHA case study attributes PLH Group and other industry stakeholders with successful implementation of the Electrical Transmission & Distribution (ET&D) Strategic Partnership’s best practices.
In 2004, the ET&D Partnership was formed as a collaborative effort of industry leaders to protect workers and improve safety in the electric line construction industry. It is the only Electrical Transmission & Distribution National OSHA Partnership to collaboratively work on preventing injuries via education and best practices. PLH Group, an electrical infrastructure contractor, is one of 15 ET&D construction contractors comprising the partnership. Additional members include trade associations and the IBEW.
The Electric Power Industry: Lighting the Way for Safety and Health Programs case study explains how incident data is analyzed by members to isolate common injury causes and identify training criteria. Recommended Practices for Safety and Health Programs include techniques for the live line tool method on distribution, fall protection and rubber insulating PPE. All 14 best practices are available through the OSHA and Partnership websites.
Enduring five renewals, the unique partnership and PLH Group’s companywide PREVENT® safety program continue to protect power line and other energized electrical services workers by significantly reducing industry hazards, incidents and fatalities.
