Investing in the Future of Safety – PLH Group Hosts 2019 Safety Summit
Date: November 15, 2019

PLH Group, a company that believes to its core that safety is essential to optimum performance and quality of life hosted its Safety Summit last month. Elsie Bentley VP of Safety, Health and Environmental for PLH Group, spear-headed the event, which was well attended including various safety vendors. Elsie joined the PLH Group management team in 2018 after spending 15 years as Safety Director for the PLH Group subsidiaries TESSCO Energy, TESSCO Industrial and Sun Electric.
PLH Group invested more time and resources into this three-day meeting and saw an attendance up-tick—approximately 70 attendees, up from 10 in 2008. Everyone from Human Resources to Presidents, from Operations and Safety were there supporting efforts to continually invest in their centerpiece safety program PREVENT®, a collection of tools designed to integrate safe work practices into every step of the task.
Opening remarks at the summit came from Mark Crowson, President of PLH Group, followed by many other speakers over the course of the event from a variety of vendors—safety-driven companies whose services and products help manage jobsite risk for contractors and their construction crews.
The PLH Group Safety Directors had the opportunity to share best practices, discuss the latest safety-related trends, compare field notes, tool box successes and hear presentations from utility construction safety experts.
In addition, a Safety Summit Vendor Exhibition rolled out the latest in equipment and technology for everyone to test and examine up close.
One of the notable vendors demonstrating their newest products was Tyndale offering the widest selection of flame resistant (FR) clothing in the utility industry.
Another vendor included TRUCE Safety Software with a new software product designed to remotely eliminate distractions from cell phone alerts and updates that might break the attention of employees.
Ingrained in the way they conduct business and their lives, PLH Group, a leader in energy-focused construction and maintenance—will continue to focus on safety; embracing the future … and the future of safety.
