PLH Group’s Donation to Warrior Wellness Solutions Changes Lives
Date: January 9, 2019

Every year PLH Group, a nationwide energy-focused construction company, gives a donation to a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called Warrior Wellness Solutions. Begun by two US Marine Corps Veterans and a Certified Health Coach in 2009, this non-profit addresses many of the wellness and assimilation issues of the wounded and ill military service members, veterans and their families. This year PLH Group’s funding will help facilitate a new level of care by way of collaborative efforts with the Institute of Functional Medicine and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. The combination of Functional Medicine—including a trained health coach and rehabilitative exercise to reduce chronic pain/inflammation, repair tissue and restore function—positive and life-giving, lasting change for ill, injured military service members is closer than ever before.
Many returning veterans and active duty service members struggle with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs), Post Traumatic Stress, suicidal ideations, cancer, digestive health issues and structural injuries.
These illnesses result from being overexposed to the stressors from the military environment which include: Stress, sleep deprivation, dive/jump injuries, blasts, radio frequencies (jammers/radar), pollutants (heavy metals/dust/smog/burn pits/chemical weapons), processed foods, prescription drugs and other conditions related to lifestyle choices.

Warrior Wellness Solutions focuses on delivering tools to strengthen the mind, body and spirit and ensures Warriors and their families have the opportunity to live lives of passion and purpose and the wellness tools to return to homeostasis.
According to the Institute for Functional Medicine, “A Functional Medicine–trained coach is an extremely valuable member of a collaborative care team who help patients make lasting lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, stress reduction, sleep, and other modifiable lifestyle factors.” In general, a health coach is essential for client compliance and improving outcomes. Combined with strength-based rehabilitative physical training, this approach empowers people to ‘take the driver’s seat’ in their wellness by addressing the underlying causes—often invisible forces—which keep them from optimal wellness.
“Warrior Wellness Solutions has been leading the charge with Functional Medicine in our support of veteran and military health,” says Elijah Sacra, Executive Director of Warrior Wellness Solutions. “We’ve served thousands of veterans and caregivers, with 67,500 practitioner hours donated with a fair market value of $5 million-dollars-worth of services delivered to wounded, ill, and injured warriors and their caregivers. Every dollar invested in our interventions yields an approximate $6 in health care savings for the DOD and the VA, totaling $30 million to date,” explains Elijah. “We are extremely grateful for PLH Group’s continued support of our mission, year after year.”
More than that, Warrior Wellness Solutions takes pride in serving the military community in the tradition of the Marines; “Honor the Fallen, Empower the Wounded. Always Faithful to those who have paid the most. Non sibi sed patriae, Semper Fidelis.”
